A Style Truly Yours

The Right Skirt For Your Body May 14 2014, 0 Comments

Skirts are a staple part of any girl’s wardrobe. However, sometimes it is hard to determine exactly which style of skirt is most flattering to your body type. While these skirts are not specific to just one body type, they do accentuate various types in different ways. The good thing is, we have skirts of all styles, perfect for every body type!

Maxi Skirts

The maxi skirt works for a majority of body types.  Many people believe these can only be worn by tall, slender bodies.  However, small petite frames can wear slim silhouetted maxi skirts to help create the illusion of longer legs.  Fuller silhouetted maxi skirts can also work on hour glass or apple shaped bodies. The fuller maxi skirts help to create a balance between your top and bottom.

Mini Skirts

Mini skirts can be tricky to wear depending on your silhouette.  Mini skirts come in various lengths and you want to make sure you cater to your body.  It is important that the hem of the skirt hits at the most slender part of your thigh to create a thinner appearance.  If you are pear shaped, you may want to avoid this style since it will draw attention to your larger bottom.  Apple, tall, and petite body styles are most ideal for the mini.

High Waisted Skirts

High waisted skirts hit right at your natural waistline.  Having the band at your waistline helps to create the illusion of a small torso.  These skirts look best paired with a tucked in shirt to show off your mid section.  High waisted skirts work well for full figured, pear, and hourglass shapes.  Tall slender figures may want to avoid these styles as it may draw attention to your straight body.

So no matter your shape, petite, hourglass, tall, or even pear, Truly Yours has options for you! Round out your spring wardrobe with your favorite length skirt today!

Craving for Cut Outs May 12 2014, 0 Comments

One very popular trend this Spring is cut outs. You may have seen this trend referred to as the “peek-a-boo” trend. From the runway to red carpet, models and celebrities have been showing off little peeks of skin in all styles of dresses and tops.

The cut out trend is great because it is easy to wear in a muted or daring way. Showing off little peeks of skin can be very chic and sophisticated if worn in the right way. If you want to go for a more modest look, you can choose cut outs with lined mesh or sheer material underneath. If you decide to go daring with the cut out trend, you can show bare skin under your cut outs. Just make sure not to show too much skin to ensure a classic look.

This trend is also great because it can be worn on all body types.  These cut outs can be found on the shoulders, hips, waist, arms, or back. With strategic placement of the cut out, this trend can flatter all bodies.

Cut outs can give you a bold look this Spring and Summer and we have lots of options!

OOTD- Mint and Sequins May 12 2014, 0 Comments

This Style it Sunday outfit is made up of two of our favorite things- the color mint and sequins! We paired our Mint Julep Top with our Turquoise and Caicos Skirt.

Our Turquoise and Caicos skirt is so cute for the Summer.  The skirt has bright colored sequins on the front, but is solid on the back, making it easy to dress up or dress down depending on the occasion. Because the skirt is made up of a few different colors as well as sequins, we wanted to pair it with a solid color. Our Mint Julep Top is simple with just enough detail around the neckline to make it unique.

We also did not want to add flashy jewelry to the outfit since the skirt is the main focal point and offers enough shimmer itself.  We paired one of our favorite necklaces, the Point of View Necklace with it because it is gold and sleek.

This entire outfit is under $100!

Mint Julep Top $34+ Turquoise & Caicos Skirt $38+ Point of View Necklace $18= $90

OOTD- Work and Play May 12 2014, 0 Comments

Trying to find appropriate outfits for work can be challenging. It is also a struggle trying to budget for two separate wardrobes for work and play.  This Sunday’s outfit offers a solution to both problems! This outfit can easily be styled two ways to take you from the office to out on the town.

Office Cutie:

For the working women, we paired our Attire For Hire Top with our Red, and White, and Black All Over Skirt.  Since the skirt has a large red bow at the waist, we tucked in the strings around the neck of the shirt to avoid having two bows together.  Over the top we placed our Taking Care of Business Blazer which is perfect for the workplace.  We also wore our Black Suede Shoes with this outfit.  These are closed toed, which make them office appropriate, but the wedge makes them fun and girly!

Downtown Diva:

For those wanting to hit the town or head to happy hour after work, this outfit is great for you.  The only change we made in the outfit was to remove the blazer. This makes the outfit a little more casual and flirty. Removing the blazer also shows off our very on trend skirt.  It has two of this season’s hottest trends- black and white and stripes!

For all of you fashionistas in search of a fabulous outfit to brighten your work day, this outfit has your name all over it!

Look For Less- Chevron May 12 2014, 0 Comments

We can never get enough chevron! This fun print has become a go to for fashionistas and has found its way into everyone’s wardrobes and homes.  Our latest addition to the Truly Yours chevron family is our new Peaks and Valleys Dress  by Coveted Clothing.  It is very similar to the one made by Karlie.  We can’t even see a difference, except in price of course! This hot little chevron dress is only $40 compared to the Karlie version for $80..half price!

Can you spot the difference?

We can't either!

Truly Yours Goes Greek May 11 2014, 0 Comments

This past August we had the wonderful opportunity to dress the Zeta Tau Alpha’s from the University of North Carolina for their Fall Recruitment! We dressed them for two different days of the recruitment process! We worked closely with them to choose two dresses for the girls to pick from to wear during the house tour and then they also picked out an awesome pink layered tank for the skit.

We guarantee to give your sorority its own style and create a one of kind look for your girls! We promise not to dress any other organization in the same outfits, because we understand the importance of setting yourselves apart.  We are already working with Greek organizations on their Fall 2013 looks so if you are interested contact us soon! Go Greek, Go Truly Yours!

Southwestern Swag May 11 2014, 0 Comments

The southwestern trend is one that keeps hanging around. We have seen the trend transition from season to season. Each season brings a new twist of how to wear and style it.  The southwest print became popular in the fall through chunky knits and sweaters and now we are finding the print making its way into spring through layering with button downs, tees, and dresses. Try these style tips below to pull off the southwestern trend:

Southwestern Style Tip 1: Pendleton Patterns and Textiles

The Pendleton pattern is an essential of all southwestern looks.  It’s geometric shape can be found all over American Indian style items. This pattern is bold and looks great in classic earth tones and bright colors.  Try layering a Pendleton printed item with a solid chambray or nude top to balance out this strong look.

Southwestern Style Tip 2:Feathers

Feathers are a great way to tie in the southwestern trend. Pull in the feather motif through fun accessories and jewelry.  Pair your chunky knits and layered pieces with a delicate feather necklace or add a few fun feathers to your favorite handbag.

Southwestern Style Tip 3: Turquoise and Silver Jewelry

Pair your bold textiles and prints with a combination of silver and turquoise jewelry to complete the southwestern trend. Turquoise has been a staple part of the Navajo culture for years.  The pairing of silver and turquoise gives a sort of authenticity to your look.  Add a turquoise cuff or beaded necklace to your look to add flawless style.

Southwestern Style Tip 4: Fringe

Last but certainly not least, fringe can give almost any look a southwestern vibe.  Add on to your look with a fringed accessory.  Fridge boots were all over the fashion world in the fall. However, you can use fringe as a transition piece and wear it through spring too.  Finish off your southwestern look this spring with a fringe purse or sandals.
