A Style Truly Yours
DIY Tassel Garland July 25 2014, 0 Comments
Since our launch party last month, our email has been flooded with questions from you all asking where we got the tassel garland in our party pictures. While there are tons of places to purchase similar ones, like party supply stores and numerous Etsy accounts, we decided to try to make it on our own. It turned out great and was way less than purchasing a premade garland.
We put together a little tutorial as well, so you all can make one too!
- Tissue paper
- Hot glue gun
- String or rope
- Take one sheet of tissue paper and fold it all the way in half, horizontally. This one sheet will end up making four separate tassels
Step 2: Fold the tissue paper in half vertically two times.
Step 3: Take scissors and cut small strips from the bottom of the folded tissue up, leaving about one inch of uncut space.
Step 4: Unfold the tissue vertically one time and make one cut right down the middle to make two separate pieces.
Step 4: Take one of the two sections and unfold it completely. Cut this piece in half, horizontally, to create two separate pieces.
Step 5: Take one of these pieces and gently roll it up from edge to edge so the cut strips are on each side. You will have to occasionally run your fingers lightly through the cut edges to keep them from tangling.
Step 6: Once it is rolled up, twist the uncut center tightly.
Step 7: Take the twisted center and bend it to create a loop. Place a drop of hot glue to hold the loop together.
Step 8: Once the glue has dried completely your tassel is complete! Take the other three left over sections and repeat steps 4-8. Then, you can put your rope or string through the loops of your tassels and hang it.
If you make a tassel garland tag us in your pics! We would love to see what yours looks like!
